Troolin email update, 1 Sep. 2014
Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you for your prayers and encouragement! One perk of being in Ukarumpa is that we are able to receive emails from you all!
Last week the two Sam translators went down to their village. We enjoyed having them around and seeing them, but it is also a bit of a relief to just be on our own again and not feel the pressure of anticipating and resolving their needs. They managed to draft quite a bit: John 12-21, Ruth 4, and Genesis 29-30! Praise the Lord! They will now work on drafting the rest of Genesis in the village.
The main reason for us coming to Ukarumpa, so the children could take their school tests, is completed also! We managed to get them in the right classrooms at the right times, and theoretically they answered the questions. They enjoyed seeing their friends and we tried to make them feel important, going off to do tests on a COMPUTER!
There have been two obstacles to our return to the village:
1. The collapsed bridge. We are incredibly surprised to be able to say that a new bridge has been put in place in record time and is now passable by high-clearance, light-weight vehicles! It is a temporary fix until the final version of the bridge is installed.
2. A small amount of accidental damage was done to our truck during our last village stay and we are waiting on a new part to be delivered and installed before we can drive through rivers again. If this part arrives in time we plan to leave for Buan village on September 10.
Life will always have some uncertainties, but we are walking with God on this journey, and he has promised to bring us through those hard times!
Blessings,
Dave and Sarah
